Today I decided to walk around the Plateau Mont-Royal area with my camera, looking for photo material. It was windy, though, very windy indeed. How windy was it? Well, if you own a copper Toyota with the license 554 CRN and you were parked near Mount-Royal, you just had a very bad day indeed (shocking photos follow). Apparently I got there right after a gigantic tree was just knocked down by a wind gust (the cops arrived as I was leaving, but two TV station trucks were already on the scene).
This tree survived the ice storm, but couldn’t stand up to the 70+ km/h wind gusts today.
The sad thing is, these people were probably really glad to get such good parking spots. I think the woman with the white top owns one of the three vehicles under the tree.
There wasn’t anyone in this middle vehicle at the time, which is fortunate because its roof was quite smashed in by a large limb.
Although it appears to have been pulling out at the time, this car was in fact parked normally with its wheels turned to the right and the tree basically pushed it into the blue Honda that was in front of it.
Another shot revealing more of the roof damage.
A view of the damage from the other side of it.
A detail shot of the tree’s damaged roots. As you can see the tree’s roots were just ripped like pieces of paper.
All in all I can say I’m quite glad I had decided to go out with my camera today!
